Improving and maintaining our physical fitness is a challenge. I've been helping people lose weight and get into better shape since 2006, motivated by my own weight loss journey and transformation. In 2003, fed up with my 48" waist and 95 lbs of excess body fat, I began a program of exercise and healthier eating. Within a year I was the healthiest I have ever been; that transformation was my motivation to help others do the same. 


I've had a lot of experience, and have learned a lot on the way. My specialty is working with people who are 40+ (I'm 55 myself). I believe in creating sustainable and functional training programs aimed at maximizing mobility, stability/balance, endurance, strength, bone density, and muscle mass. These are the key elements that will help you to get the most out of the rest of your life.

In March 2020 I was forced to pivot from an in-person training format to online. My clients still needed my help, and with Covid social distancing and lockdown mandates, it was the only option if I was going to continue to be there for them.


I was surprised at how well it was received, and by the continued results my clients were getting. I created programs that allowed them to work out at high intensity, without having to purchase much - if any - expensive equipment. 


Today, 2 1/2 years later, I have a thriving online practice that many of my clients claim works even better than training in-person. I use a customized app that works on all devices and computers. This is where I deliver your workouts, complete with videos and explanations. This allows you to work out on your own as well, if you feel motivated. On the app you can record your workout data, make comments or add notes on workouts, and you can also track your biometric information (weight, measurements, blood pressure, heart rate, etc.). The app even connects with smart watches and other apps such as MyFitnessPal.


If you want customized 1-on-1 real-time training (over Zoom) from the comfort of your home, this is for you. It'll save you on travel time to and from my gym, and you can work out anywhere, any time.

In-Person Training

My gym is a fully-equipped professional fitness facility in an insulated and heated garage attached to my home. I have the equipment and skills to train anyone, regardless of fitness level or goals. Some people prefer to work out with an in-person coach; if this is you, and you're local to me (Lakeshore, ON), this is the spot for you!

The consultation is mostly about me understanding your needs, and you gaining a sense of comfort with me. If after we meet you feel you'd like to proceed, you can then come for a personal tour of the gym to get a feel for the facilities.

I offer 1/2 hour and 1 hour training sessions. You can pay per session, or enjoy discounts when you commit to longer terms (3 or 6 months).

My Qualifications

The most important one, I think, is that I've walked the weight loss and fitness journey personally. Having lost 95 lbs of fat in 2003, and adding over 20 lbs of muscle to my frame was what inspired me to become a wellness coach. It also makes me unique in that I get it; I understand the struggles and the issues that come up when we're trying to lose, get fit, or both.


The second important qualification is that I've maintained my weight loss for about 19 years now. I've learned how to keep it off, which - based on the statistics - is a relatively rare thing, apparently.


The third lies in my training to become a psychotherapist. I chose this path because I believe that most of the battle to improving and sustaining our health and fitness happens in the mind. "Slips" and "falling off the wagon" are normal; but they can be debilitating when they happen, and we don't understand why. This is where my training helps; I can help you figure out why, and I can help customize a plan for you that fits with your personality and lifestyle.


The fourth is the organization I'm certified with, the Certified Professional Trainer's Network. They maintain the highest of professional standards, and their training and certification programs are second-to-none. I've learned a lot from them over the years, and undergo continuing education yearly in order to maintain my certification with them.
