Who Am I?

My Counseling Practice

My name is Mike MacKinnon, B.Comm., M.Div., and I'm currently training to become a Registered Psychotherapist at an accredited Ontario college. I have operated a wellness coaching practice for the past 16 years.


Since 2019, my practice has shifted focus more towards counseling. My passion has always been to help people through their mental and emotional challenges; counseling allows me to do what I do best. 


I'm told that I'm a good listener, empathetic, non-judgmental, and that people appreciate my ability to sit with them through even the most challenging of circumstances. There's NEVER any judgment from me. I want to help you be the very best you that you can be.

My Focus

In clinical terms, my approach is best described as "Rogerian," "Emotion-Focused," and "Intersubjective." In plain-speak:

  1. You're the expert of your life; I will rarely "tell you" what to do, instead I help you discover for yourself what's best.
  2. I believe that helping you explore your emotions and feelings can uncover fundamental needs that - if left unmet - can significantly impact your happiness.
  3. I believe that you and I are "in this together;" I'm not some distant therapist-type who analyzes you. I'm human, with feelings and emotions; you and your story affect me in a very real way.

My Promise

I'll be there with you at every step. I hope to help you grow through your struggles, to heal from your pain, and to move forward into your very best life. I want our sessions to help you discover the answers you're looking for, and to give you the help you need.
